February 13, 2023 - On Saturday, February 11th, a middle school youth rally was held at Cristo Rey St Viator High School in Las Vegas for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The event had a theme of “WANTED” and was aimed at inspiring and encouraging young students to live their faith with confidence and joy. The keynote speaker for the event was Giancarlo Bernini, an illusionist and magician known for his unique approach to faith and illusion. Over 70 middle school youth attended the event.
Giancarlo Bernini's talk on faith and illusion was a highlight of the rally. The illusionist shared his personal journey of faith and how he incorporates his beliefs into his magic shows. He spoke about the importance of staying true to oneself and not losing sight of what is truly important in life. The students were in awe of Giancarlo's tricks and illusions, and they were inspired by his message of hope and perseverance.
“We are most grateful for the cooperation and work of the seven parish youth ministers who participated in planning and supporting our 2023 Middle School Youth Rally as well as the hospitality offered by Cristo Rey St Viator and their staff,” commented Connie Clough, Director of Faith Formation for the Diocese of Las Vegas. Clough also shared that, “In addition to the prayer and fun events, the middle schoolers assembled more than 400 “Blessing Bags’ that were donated to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.”
Throughout the rally, students had the opportunity to participate in various activities and games that encouraged them to connect with one another and grow in their faith. They also had the chance to meet and talk with other students from different parishes and schools, building new friendships and strengthening the sense of community within the Catholic middle school community.
