Las Vegas Begins Lent

(LAS VEGAS) - On February 22nd, 2023, the Guardian Angel Cathedral in Las Vegas held its annual Ash Wednesday Mass, with Bishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., celebrating the noon Mass. 

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time of reflection, prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and repentance. The Guardian Angel Cathedral, a beautiful church located just off the Las Vegas Strip, was filled with worshipers eager to participate in the Lenten Mass.

During the Mass, Bishop Thomas blessed the ashes, which were then distributed to the congregation. The ashes, a symbol of penance and mortality, were applied to the foreheads of those present in the sign of the cross.

As the Mass continued, the Bishop led the congregation in the celebration of the Eucharist. The Ash Wednesday Mass at the Guardian Angel Cathedral is a beloved tradition for many in the Las Vegas community, and this year's service was no exception. The church was filled with a sense of reverence and humility as worshipers took part in this important religious observance.
