The Archdiocese of Las Vegas issued a formal statement in response to the ongoing discussions around immigration enforcement policies under the Trump administration

On January 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Governor Joe Lombardo delivered Nevada's State of the State Address to a joint session of the Nevada Legislature in Carson City. The session commenced with an opening prayer led by Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D. of the Archdiocese of Las Vegas.

Father Puhlman was born on July 18, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Margaret and Albert Puhlman. He was one of four siblings: Peggy, Martha, and Albert Jr. The family moved to California when he was nine, where he completed school and began his journey in religious life with the Salesians of Don Bosco. Later, he pursued priestly formation in the Diocese of Orange and was ordained on June 9, 1984, by Most Rev. William Johnson.

Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D. celebrated Mass at the newly established St. John Paul II Parish in Inspirada, NV on Sunday, October 20, marking a significant moment for the local Catholic community. This special liturgy drew parishioners and guests from across the region, all eager to witness the historic occasion and participate in the solemn Mass.

Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D. is pleased to announce his appointment of Steve Schmitt as the Director of Development for the Archdiocese of Las Vegas. The 10th Eucharistic Congress concluded Sunday in Indianapolis, drawing over 50,000 pilgrims from around the world to the Indiana Convention Center. Among the pilgrims, 50 were with the Archdiocese of Las Vegas, and an additional 25 pilgrims from Las Vegas traveled to Indianapolis for the four-day Congress. They were accompanied by Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., and Auxiliary Bishop Gregory Gordon.

Employees from the Archdiocese of Las Vegas spent their morning on June 7, volunteering at Catholic Charities serving meals and helping in the dining area. 

Fr. "AJ" Sales and Fr. Michael Williams were Ordained to the Priesthood on May 25th at Guardian Angel Cathedral by Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., for the Archdiocese of Las Vegas.

St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church held its first parish picnic in nine years on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Lone Mountain Regional Park.

On May 25, Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., will ordain Deacon Michael Williams and Deacon AJ Sales to the Priesthood during a festive Mass at Guardian Angel Cathedral. 

During the Liturgical Season of Easter in Las Vegas, Confirmation season is in full swing. Numerous Parishes are taking this time to welcome Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., Auxiliary Bishop Gregory W. Gordon, and Retired Bishop Richard Higgins as they preside over Confirmation Mass, imparting the Holy Spirit upon the faithful. In the Archdiocese of Las Vegas, the Confirmation Classes have ranged from 10 to over 200.

Pastoral leaders from around the Archdiocese gathered together on March 21 for the annual Chrism Day with talks by Fr. Mark R. Francis, CSV. After the talks, the faithful gathered with Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., Bishop Gregory W. Gordon, and concelebrating priests for the Chrism Mass. Both events were held at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church in Las Vegas.
